The Stauf Castle Ruins are one of the most atmospheric medieval landmarks in Upper Austria, quietly hidden among the wooded hills overlooking the Danube region. Built during the High Middle Ages, the fortress once served as an important defensive stronghold and residence for local noble families who controlled the surrounding territory and trade routes.
